Vasa Pasta Dinner:
On Friday night we offer a pasta feed at Timber Ridge. This delicious pasta dinner will be served from 5:00-8:00 PM as a benefit for a local youth nordic program. Fresh pasta, a choice of sauces, bread, salad and beverage will be included for a reasonable "all-you -can-eat-carbo-load" price. It will easily be the best deal in town!

Packet Pick-Up:
Packet Pick-Up will begin at noon on February 8th and run until 10:00 PM at the Timber Ridge Resort.

Late Registration:
Sat 7:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. at the Timber Ridge Resort
The Vasa is part of the American Ski Marathon Series and the Michigan cup series of cross country ski races.

Hagerty Insurance Gran Travers Cross Country Classic

Hagerty Insurance Gran Travers Start Times:
6k Classic - 9:15 a.m.
16k Classic - 9:00 a.m.

As part of the Vasa weekend festival of Races, there will be two special classic skiing races that will be part of the Michigan cup series. The Sunday events will be offered by Hagerty Insurance. The Gran Travers will feature both 6k and 16k challenging loop courses that will capture the rich heritage of traditional cross-country skiing at it's finest.
The 16k race will start at 9:00 a.m. at Timber Ridge Resort. The 6k race will start at 9:15 a.m.

The trail will be carefully groomed and double-tracked to provide kick-and-gliders the opportunity to test their skills while enjoying the breath-taking beauty of the Vasa Pathway.

The Hagerty Insurance Gran Travers will be held on the same course as the North American Vasa. Men and women who ski the race can qualify for Michigan Cup points. It will be a great way to enjoy winter skiing and test your classical skills.

Junior VASA Races
Saturday, Feburday 9th, 2008

This year the Jr. VASA races will be sponsored by the Bayshore Marathon. The races are for kids from 4-15 who are not part of high school ski programs. We consider this group as future VASA skiers and the Vasa Board supports youth nordic ski programs in the Grand Traverse Region. These high-energy events will start at 12:30 pm on Saturday, February 9th as follows::

12:30 pm, 1km Classic, Ages 5-under and 6-7
12:40 pm, 3km Classic, Ages 8-9, 10-11 and 12-15
12:45 pm, 3km Freestyle, Ages 8-9, 10-11 and 12-15

Award Ceremony

We have decided to offer a "Build Your Own Nacho Bar" for the guests. The cost will be $6 per plate. We will also offer some type of "sweet," most likely it will be cookies.
